Coimbra, Portugal's third city, boasts the most renowned university in the country. The questions to be answered in this film are whether "Coimbra 1991/92" is just a myth, an old-fashioned dream or true life; whether Coimbra-the-City, Coimbra-the-University and Coimbra-the-Students are three different cities or just one. All the answers to these questions are revealed through the eyes of a young student, Carlos José, during his first year at the university. This film, complete with teacher's notes, presents students with a chance to discover both a very important part of Portugal's academic culture and also contemporary language.
