Childhood is a former era that always returns.

This book explores this very issue: the pursuit and exposure of moments, the smells and the people who are part of my past, at a time when Angola and the inhabitants of Luanda formed a unique and distinct realm. All of this recounted through the voice of the child I once was; all of this steeped in the atmosphere of the 1980s: a single-party state, fuel cards, Cuban professors, the national anthem sung in the morning and our city of Luanda, which had the ability to transform "mujimbos" (rumours) into facts. This fictional story, which also forms part of my story, provided me with fond memories. It allowed me to lay down, in a book, a world which has already gone. A world that I experienced and which, today, is a pleasant dream to look back on.
